In the Hetalia universe, I feel like nations are kind of seen as tourist attractions/propaganda tools by their governments for foreigners. Their bosses will make them advertise and objectify themselves for tourists (example: Hungary advertising Hungarian spas with sensual pictures). Hungary and other female nations are ESPECIALLY objectified and made to represent their country's "beauty and traditional values".
France's Instagram is full of pictures about national cuisine and tourist destinations. He's often told by his boss to make content that shows off French heritage and leverage his good looks to entice foreigners (Though France definitely takes some liberties). I kind of feel like every nation's bosses see their nation's Instagram as propaganda tools to show the perfect image of their countries.
This is especially true with countries that rely on tourism/get a lot of revenue from tourists. During tourist season, these nations often are told to be on their best behavior, and are encouraged to wear cultural clothing as a way to impress foreigners. Sometimes, they're even told to lean into stereotypes and gimmicks to entertain people.
In turn, a lot of tourists feel entitled to see nations as if they're a public attraction. They take pictures and videos, touch them like a petting zoo, and some even ask nations for inappropriate favors. Basically, they treat them like a Disneyland mascot.

Han and Leia's Wedding
My Headcanons x Hungarian Wedding Traditions
Tumblr media
Han/Leia Appreciation Week 2024
Day One: Tradition / Ceremony
For @hanleiacelebration
Since I'm a big fan of weddings, of course I spent a lot of time thinking about what would Han and Leia's wedding be like.
As a passionate royal watcher and a big lover of Hungarian traditions, I just had to mash up aspects of these. This also means that I was able to combine today's two promts.
That tiara is the Cartier Halo Tiara, my absolute favourite. I just love to imagine that Han gets made a replica of Leia's birthday tiara given by her parents after hearing the tradition that Alderaanian royal brides wore a tiara from their family.
And yes, I'm a basic girlie, and my favourite wedding dress is Carherine Middleton's, but hey, own it! I feel like it's regal enough for the last Princess of Alderaan at her wedding that is the first big celebration of the new, free galaxy, bit still laidback enough for a sadly no longer big royal wedding and a bride who wants a more simple, personal occasion.
The bread tearing! My favourite Hungarian wedding tradition is where the couple grabs the two ends of a circle shaped 'kalács' and tears it to see who will be the 'boss' in the marriage. Of course for Han and Leia the two pieces are the exact same size!
A Hungarian wedding is a huge party until dawn, and to signal at midnight that the day of the wedding passed, and the groom and bride is now the 'new husband and wife', they change into red clothes. They are also for sale now, at least a dance with them, time to get back the price of the wedding😉 (And if you find the picture familiar, it's from Palvin Barbi and Dylan Sprouse's very fun and very Hungarian wedding!)
The bride sometimes gets 'kidnapped', usually by the men in her family, and the groom has to find and 'free' her with cute, silly tasks. I imagine this to be a Corellian tradition, which is told by Wedge to Leia, who finds it hilarious, but Han firmly states that they won't do that, but the Rogues do it anyway lol. Leia has a fun time, especially when Han completes the task in a very romantic manner. Bonus, the picture I chose for this is also good for simply aesthetic purposes.
I hope you enjoyed this silly little moodboard with my commentary! 😊

▪️A preserved photograph from 1866 shows a young Serb, Božidar Novaković, from the village of Bukovica in Dalmatia, which was then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, in ceremonial traditional Serbian clothing. 🇷🇸

Just went through the depths ™ of my sketchbook and stuff ™. Pretty old stuff but it explains a lot of the lore of my version of Mondstadt. I know my handwriting is bad😭 I’ll try and translate
(You can see how different my style is on paper LMFAOOOO)
Tumblr media
This one is the newest!!!
Wanted to elaborate on clothing and hair. I HATEHATEHATE how much traditional German clothing is sexualized so guess what I did!!!! Anyway I wanted to lean further into traditional German clothing while also taking into account what would be most convenient for the people living there. I wanted hair to be super important too. MONDSTADT IS WINDY. WHY IS YOUR HAIR DOWN PEOPLE. So I thought since people generally have their hair up here they would probably develop a really complex culture around the way hair is put up. (Thank u kaeya and diluc for being my hair models) And Since wind is considered holy there would probably be religious implications there too.
I also think it would be kinda neat if other nations were kinda unbeknownst to the fact that mondstadt has culture aside from drinking.
Tumblr media
WHEW THIS ONES OLD. I wanted to go more in depth about the internal relationships between the cultures of mondstadt. I had noticed the cross symbol around and kinda tried to recontextualize it to fit the world.
Here’s a transcript of some of the bottom text for those who can’t read it:
“Those who hail from the south (east AND west) are generally looked down upon by those who are from central/northern mondstadt. They are seen as trashy/dangerous due to association with the fatui.”
“Southwestern ethnic/cultural groups include:
- Czechs/Slovakians (usually just referred to as Czechoslovakians, there’s no real reason to separate in this context)
- Hungarians
- Croatians
- Albanians
Southeastern ethnic/cultural groups include:
- Poles
- Lithuanians
- Belarusians
- Romanians”
If any explanation is needed just let me know!! These are very old haha
In any case here’s some assorted brainrot notes:
Inazuma has closed its borders completely, disallowing the majority of trade and travelers. However, a select few people are allowed within the country’s borders for trade/political talks.
Inazuman salt is essential to the survival of the people of mondstadt, as they need it to preserve their meat for winter.
Many nations, ESPECIALLY FONTAINE, look down upon mondstadt, because they see it as a trashy, uncivilized place full of drunkards.
